Courses start in mid/late September and roughly follow the school year, divided into 3 terms, payable termly in advance. You are welcome to try a course with no commitment for 2 weeks to see if it is right for you, and you are welcome to transfer between courses if another one would better suit your needs.

If you miss a class, I will email the handouts so you can study the material in your own time. If I cancel a class for any reason, the cost of that class will be refunded, or subtracted from the next term’s fees.

Class times are usually 1845-2045 in the evenings, or 1000-1200 in the mornings. Water and occasionally other refreshments are served at evening classes. Coffee/tea and biscuits are served at morning classes. Toilet facilities are available. Classes are taught seminar-style round a table.

Some of my groups have now been running for up to 9 years, and the students are like old friends. New members are made very welcome at all levels, and it is possible to start at any time, if the level is right for you.

Courses will continue from one year to the next as long as sufficient students wish to continue. Class sizes are generally between 6-10 students. Location is usually my house in Snarestone, but some groups may be taught in other locations in the Appleby Magna area.

You don't need to purchase a course book. A comprehensive set of handouts will be provided, and you will need an A4 ring binder to keep them in. You will also need a dictionary – I recommend any of the Collins ones. For levels past Beginners, a verb book is useful.

Accessibility: There is parking for up to 6 cars on our drive and verge, and on-street parking just round the corner. There are two steps up to the front door, otherwise everything is on one level. Seating is on comfortable chairs, and the small class size means I can cater for people with limited hearing. I will always try to accommodate student needs - please ask.
